Cor Crucis

“I know some people. I think you two should meet”

The sentence was dropped in passing, at an entirely different meeting about an entirely different matter. So I went to talk to Agata and Father Marcin with no plan, just a hunch that there would be common ground. There was.

Cor Crucis is their publishing house – books, audiobooks and video. It became clear quickly that they had not come for ideas. They had plenty of those, they knew roughly where they were going, and some of it they were already doing themselves.

They did not need ideas – they had their own. They needed signposts, so that the road they were walking anyway would be a pleasure.

My role in this project is fairly unusual: I am a rather stationary signpost. I stand in one place and point the way, and they do the walking.

What ended up on our side

A new site together with the store. Plus the whole of shipping – warehouse, packing, parcels at readers’ doors – and the automation of processes that used to be clicked through by hand. Publishing is a thread of its own: typesetting, DTP and taking the next book through to publication.

These are only the first steps

This story is only taking its first small steps and it will not end with this book. The back office is ready – so that whatever comes next can go out without building everything from scratch again.
